OVERCOMING AUTOMATION CHALLENGES
SP Technology will be presenting with Beckhoff at this year’s show. So here’s a little taster of what to expect from the practical breakout session.

The focus of the presentation will be around highlighting the importance of collaboration when solving automation problems. SP Technology design bespoke automated solutions, whilst Beckhoff provide IPC machine control & monitoring, drives and all you can ask for with regards to industry 4.0.
The presentation will take you through a journey of developing a bespoke automation solution for a large medical device company and how the concept evolved through collaboration between SP Technology and Beckhoff. A combination of this and taking into account, the machine design, the control architecture and the handling of an enormous amount of data for data gathering and serialisation for the end product. In addition, this will also provide the audience with an insight into how the design process doesn’t end with design. The overview will also show how to minimise installation time of equipment, and in the case of the presentation case study, a 14m long modular bespoke automated solution, which at the time was the largest Beckhoff XTS system in Europe.
In addition to the presentation, both companies are this year sharing a stand (#620), showcasing a joint demo machine, which demonstrates some of the methodology used in the case study, but also with a lot more, including possibilities in flexible manufacturing, machine monitoring and collaborative robots working in a collaborative as well as an industrial mode.
