New Apprentice at SP

August 2023

This week we welcomed our second apprentice of the year to SP – Jack Macfarlane.

Although Jack is our newest employee, his family’s ties with SP go back many years.

Jack is following in his grandad Duncan’s footsteps to become an engineer at SP. Duncan retired 11 years ago and is hugely proud that Jack is carrying on the love of engineering and automation in his family. Jack has already been studying engineering at Dundee & Angus College, and they will continue to support and validate his modern engineering apprenticeship.

Roy Henderson, Director and co-owner of SP, commented.

Around 37 years ago, I started at SP as the company’s first apprentice, and it’s an absolute honour to be starting our second apprentice of 2023, Jack is joining Phil who joined us in April. It is humbling to look back so many years when Jack’s grandad taught me toolmaking tricks of the trade. It is brilliant to see young people so energetic about engineering. Jack, like me all those years ago, can be assured that the learning process within engineering and especially automation never stops.
