Five Reasons to Automate?
Topics:
April 2018
SP Automation & Robotics believe these are the top 5 things to consider when automating your production process:
★ Can the existing workforce actually perform this process or task? It might be dangerous or require a level of accuracy or precision a human cannot achieve (this is especially the case with inspection).
★ Are there enough people in the workforce to be able to perform the process or task at the required production volumes? Essentially, can I recruit enough bodies for the job?
★ What is the current process or manufacturing cost of my product? Do I need to drive costs down by increasing productivity without increasing overheads (i.e. increasing the efficiency of the existing workforce rather than cutting it)?
★ Are my workforce engaged? Do I really want to employ people to do repetitive, boring work, or do I want an automated system to do that and up-skill my people?
★ Does my manufacturing process suffer from quality or consistency issues? If this is the case, the best way to have consistency is to have machines do the work all the same way at the same standard.
