SP-EZPal palletiser was developed to provide a robust, safe and commercially viable solution for companies looking to automate end-of-line palletising. Although the standard SP-EZPal palletiser has two pallet loading positions, most applications require a bespoke solution due to layouts. The flexibility of the SP-EZPal palletiser core means reconfiguration is made simple whilst utilising the standard elements and benefits of the SP-EZPal palletiser.
For this solution, the customer required a system that could integrate with their current line without changing the factory layout. In addition to this, there were several other specified requirements, including:
Automatic infeed of pallets.
An area for the unloading of full pallets without stopping the system.
Ability to load layer cards (selectable).
Cater for different box/pack sizes.
The ability to pick up different box sizes with no end-of-arm changes.
Required to be easily reprogrammed to suit future pallet layouts.
The Solution
Based around the standard SP-EZPal palletiser platform, the system design also incorporated a multi stack de-palletiser from Pallomat. The pallets were called off when required and conveyed to the loading position.
Products in various box sizes were conveyed and escaped to a pickup position. Depending on the pallet configuration and pack size, up to three boxes were picked using a Piab foam gripper and placed onto the waiting pallet. Once a layer had been completed, and depending on the pallet layer configuration, the robot also loaded a layer card.
Once the pallet was fully loaded, it would exit to an offload position that was designed to suit folk lift offloading and future proofed to accommodate autonomous mobile robots (AMR’s) at a later date.
